Around 400 young tennis players at the age of 13 to
16 find their way to the Mercedes Jugend Cup in
Renningen and Rutesheim each year. They all share
the dream of becoming a tennis pro one day.
But there is hardly any other tournament of this
category where their dreams can come true as fast as
here. The winner of the Boys U16 competition is
awarded with a wildcard for the qualifying of the
MercedesCup in Stuttgart! From Tennis Europe to the
ATP World Tour in less than a year - this is only
possible at the Mercedes Jugend Cup.
But that is not the only reason why the tournament in
the proximity to Stuttgart has been ranked among the
top U16 tournaments in Europe for four years now.
"We off er services that you usually only get on the
professional tour," explains tournament director Peter
Rohsmann. He knows the reasons for the popularity
of the Mercedes Jugend Cup: a professional shuttle
service (of course, in cars of the main sponsor),
special catering for the participants or the free
Internet café which are only three aspects greeted
with enthusiasm by players and coaches every year.
And also the winners of the Girls U16 and both U14
competitions do not have to leave empty-handed.
They receive a one-week training camp in the
Equelite Tennis Academy of the former French Open
Champion Juan Carlos Ferrero in Valencia.
That is why the "stars of tomorrow" will once again
participate in this tournament. The Mercedes Jugend
Cup 2010 is hosted by TSC Renningen and TC
Rutesheim from August 15th-22nd by the kind
patronage of the neighbouring clubs TA Spvgg
Warmbronn (as the third venue) and TC Weissach-
Flacht and TA SV Gebersheim, TC Leonberg and TA
TSV Eltingen with practise courts.
